Each of our classrooms are specifically designed to meet the developmental needs of our young children. We provide experiences that challenge and support each child's cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical, creative, and spiritual development. During the course of the day at Good Shepherd each child has opportunities to create, explore their environment, develop personal interaction skills and learn problem solving skills and concepts through hands on experiences.
Our staff members are positive role models loving each child as Jesus loves us. They are supportive, nurturing, warm and responsive to each child's individual needs.
Just Getting Started ...
Give our director Ms. Amanda at call at 519-736-5909 to set up a tour of our center and classrooms. We will help make your transition to child care as smooth as possible! During your tour you will get an opportunity to see each of our classrooms and get introduced to our staff on schedule. We can also set up a classroom visit where you can stay with your child and see the room in action where you little one will spend their day.
What will my child's day look like ? ...
Our toddler room provides many opportunities for your child's developmental growth. A daily routine is followed to maintain consistency in their day. They will begin to develop their independence skills such as learning to use a cup, eating with utensils and practice table manners. You will find that this classroom is always busy and full of energy.
Activity times will include short circle times, lots of dancing and singing to music, reciting finger plays, sensory time, imaginative play, puzzles, drawing, American Sign Language and much more! Children will begin to gain an understanding of social interactions with their friends and expressing their own emotional needs.
We follow the following schedule daily here at Good Shepherd in our toddler room;
7:00 am Free play and activity time and open snack available

How will I know what my child did during the day ? ...
We record daily all diaper changes, meals, naps and activities on our Bright Wheel app. You can download this app on your phone, tablet or computer and check in whenever you want to see how your little ones day is going. We also take lots of pictures so you will not only read about what we are doing but see it too! You will see these pictures posted around our center and classroom as well.
Good communication is very important during your child care experience. We will do our best to keep you informed about your child's day and to let you know when your child's supplies are running low.
Please let us know about your child when you drop them off. How well did they sleep last night? What is their mood? When did they last eat? All of these things are important to us to ensure your child gains as much as possible from our program.
Of course you are always welcome to call or send us a message on Bright Wheel throughout the day if you have any questions or concerns.
What should I bring on our first day ?
We ask parents to bring a small backpack with the following supplies for each child. It also greatly helps if you label all of your child's belongings as items can be mixed up easily ... THANKS!
- Diapers and wipes labeled with your child's name (1 sleeve)
- Diaper rash cream labeled with your child's name
- A lightweight blanket
- A spare full set of clothing (based on seasonal needs)
- Outdoor clothing and footwear (based on seasonal needs)
- A refillable water bottle labeled with your child's name
- Family photos for display (2 or 3 of your choice)
Each child will have their own labelled cubby space within their classroom to store their extra clothes and outerwear and a diaper bin for diapers, wipes and creams.
